"Pets in the Park, the Edmonton Humane Society's Official Pet Festival, was held on Sunday June 22, 2014 and as usual it was a howlin' good time! This year’s event was held in the same great location, William Hawrelak Park,..." and Tails of Help was there this time for a ton of “doggone” fun! *
"Over the past 22 years, people and their furred, feathered, or scaled companions have attended and raised thousands of dollars for animals in need. Pets in the Park has become a tradition in Edmonton and it's the one and only day of the year that pets are welcomed into beautiful William Hawrelak Park."
"Through our pledge-driven 2.5 Km walk and 5 Km run, the Edmonton Humane Society raises crucial funds that help us care for thousands of animals each year. In 2013 alone, runners and walkers helped us raise almost $145,000... Pets in the Park also plays a key role in raising awareness of the many programs and services that the Edmonton Humane Society offers...The Edmonton Humane Society cares for about 13,000 companion animals each year. We provide the best care possible for animals and for the community, whether it is for an admission, an adoption, or to help a family re-unite with a lost pet."
Tails of Help was there to support the Edmonton Humane Society in this major annual fundraiser event for the EHS mission of caring for homeless, mistreated, or lost pets. Tails of Help was fortunate to be set up in a good location right next to the silent auction table, so there were lots of visitors coming by who were able to hear more about our charity, and how our work complements that of humane societies and rescue shelters in Alberta.
Visitors to the Tails of Help booth were very interested to hear about the new Alberta charity and how it helps ill or injured pets and families in need, and were very supportive and enthusiastic in their comments about what a great idea it is and how much this is needed.
For many visitors, this was the first time that they have heard about Tails of Help, so this event was great exposure for our organization and a terrific opportunity to start spreading the word about the Tails of Help 2014 Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament to be held in Edmonton this Sept 12! (Please see our 2014 Golf Event web page)
A great big thank you to our volunteers who stepped up to make our first appearance at Pets in the Park such a successful one! It is thanks to your efforts that we are able to help raise public awareness about who we are and what Tails of Help is doing to help Alberta pets and families!
